Working Script

In the beginning of the trailer, the camera will reveal close up shots of clown ornaments, whilst the sound of a telephone is ringing in the background. The camera will then cut to a long shot of a woman answering the phone. I will then introduce the production company which will be ‘Gorey Productions present’ and then cut to a medium shot of the phone on the floor of its hook, whilst you can hear its dial tone going off. I will then cut straight to the title ‘The clown room’, still with the sound of the dial tone present.

My music to my trailer will start at this point and there will be a close up shot of an eye looking through a keyhole, which then leads to a long shot of a woman sitting on a seat. She is reading a newspaper and the camera is looking through the window at her, in order to create the sense of being watched. It will then cut back to the close up shot of the eye looking through the key hole once again. A long shot reveals the woman walking through a kitchen; she has a very curious look on her face and is looking at her surroundings which suggests that it is not her familiar with them. A long shot of her then walking up the stairs cuts to a close up of her hand that gradually moves towards the handle of a door, which she then turns and opens slightly.

When the door opens it reveals a long shot of a boy sitting on the floor, we can only see the back off him but can make out that he is playing with a bouncy ball, but then he gradually turns his head around to reveal his face. This will also be a point of view shot. We see that there is some kind of mask on his face and as he goes to lift it up, but as he goes to the camera then cuts to couple of snap shots of which reveal a close of a clown ornaments. The music then stops at this point and we see a medium shot of the woman handing a photo to a young boy and she says ‘Whose this?’

At this point there is change in music, when a shot of a clown face is pressed up against a glass window, and his eyes are moving from side to side. The camera then cuts an empty staircase where both the previous woman and boy enter and start to run down them. This will be shown from a low camera angle. They stop running when they get mid staircases, as they look up in shock to see something that scares them and causes to panic and stumble backwards. The camera then swiftly cuts to a long shot of a clown at the bottom of the stairs, which is blowing a party blower, and gradually walks up the stairs pushing away anything in its path. This will be shown from a high angle, and also a point of view shot.

An over the shoulder shot, also long of the woman and boy reveal them with very anxious and fearful expressions on their face. The woman is then forcefully pushed through door by the clown, therefore exits the cameras view from the right side. A close up shot of the boy is then shown, and it appears that something has caught his attention and he is looking down at something, this then quickly cuts to an over the shoulder shot of the woman standing in a door way and is staring at the boy who is playing with a ball on the floor. The boy has his back turned to her therefore he is not aware that she is watching him.

A medium shot is used to show the clown sitting with its legs out on the floor, in a still position that creates the image of it being a doll, the shot also continue as a pan that goes from top to bottom.  Another pan shot is then used to reveal part of the clown room, and this shot goes from one side to another. The music then instantly stops and the camera cuts to a close up shot off an old fashioned clock ticking. The final shot is a medium shot off shut curtains. The back of a woman from the waist down is then shown in this shot, and she gradually moves towards the curtain with her hands held out and ready pulls them backwards. There is a sound off a heartbeat at this point in order to heighten the tension in which is being created. The woman then pulls the curtains back, and then this cuts to a black scream where only a woman’s scream can be heard. Lastly, the words coming soon will flash up on the screen preferably in the colour red.
